Dell PowerEdge R530

The Dell PowerEdge R530 is a 2U two-socket rack server built for storage capacity, with up to eight 3.5" drives. It runs up to two Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 processors with up to 18 cores each, 12 DDR4 DIMM slots at up to 2400 MT/s, up to five PCIe slots (three Gen3 and two Gen2) and four 1GbE LOM ports. Power choices range from a cabled 450W unit to hot-plug 495W, 750W and 1100W supplies, and iDRAC8 handles management. Fully configurable.

It has 12 DDR4 DIMM sockets for 4GB to 32GB modules, up to 384GB with two processors, at up to 2400 MT/s.

The Gen 14 R540 moves to Xeon Scalable, adds four DIMM slots for up to 1TB at 2666 MT/s, raises front 3.5-inch bays from 8 to 12 plus two rear bays, and makes every PCIe slot Gen3. It also adds iDRAC9 and an optional 10GbE LOM riser. Dell's R540 spec sheet was used for the R540 column.
