Dell PowerEdge R930

The Dell PowerEdge R930 is a 4U four-socket rack server for in-memory databases, OLTP and large consolidation projects. It runs up to four Intel Xeon E7-8800 v4 or E7-4800 v4 processors with up to 24 cores each, and 96 DDR4 DIMM slots for up to 12TB at up to 2400 MT/s. Storage scales to 24x 2.5" hot-plug drives with up to 8 front NVMe PCIe SSDs, and expansion includes up to 10 PCIe 3.0 slots plus RAID and NDC slots. Six hot-swap fans and iDRAC8 complete it. Fully configurable.

It has 96 DDR4 DIMM sockets supporting RDIMMs and LRDIMMs, for up to 12TB at up to 2400 MT/s according to Dell's spec sheet.

Up to 24 front 2.5-inch hot-plug SAS or SATA drives, with up to eight of them as front-accessible NVMe Express Flash PCIe SSDs, using PERC H330 or H730P. Please specify your capacity needs when you submit your quote configuration.

Up to ten PCIe 3.0 slots, plus a dedicated RAID controller slot and a network daughter card slot, along with hot-plug redundant 750W or 1100W power supplies and six hot-swap fans.

The Gen 14 R940 moves to Xeon Scalable processors in a smaller 3U chassis, with 48 DIMM slots (up to 6TB at 2933 MT/s), up to 12 NVMe drives, 13 PCIe slots, 25GbE and iDRAC9. The R930 keeps the edge on DIMM slot count and memory capacity. Dell's R940 spec sheet was used for the R940 column.
