Dell PowerEdge R830

The Dell PowerEdge R830 packs four sockets into a 2U rack chassis, running up to four Intel Xeon E5-4600 v4 processors with up to 22 cores each. It offers 48 DDR4 DIMM slots (up to 3TB with 64GB modules at up to 2400 MT/s), up to 16x 2.5" SAS/SATA drives, seven PCIe 3.0 slots and a choice of 1GbE or 10GbE network daughter cards. With hot-plug redundant power, six hot-swap fans and iDRAC8, it is suited to dense virtualization and scale-out four-socket workloads. Fully configurable.

Its 48 DDR4 DIMM sockets accept 8GB to 64GB RDIMMs or LRDIMMs, for up to 3TB per Dell's spec sheet, at up to 2400 MT/s.

Up to sixteen 2.5-inch drives, including SATA or SAS SSDs, 10K and 15K SAS HDDs and 7.2K nearline SAS, with PERC H330, H730 or H730P. Please specify your capacity needs when you submit your quote configuration.

The R830 gives you four sockets in a 2U chassis with E5-4600 v4 processors, which is denser and more economical. The 4U R930 uses E7 v4 processors and scales to 96 DIMM slots, 12TB of memory and 24 drives.

The Gen 14 R840 moves to Xeon Scalable with up to 28 cores, doubles memory to 6TB at 2933 MT/s, adds persistent memory, up to 24 NVMe drives, GPU or FPGA support, 25GbE and iDRAC9. Dell's R840 spec sheet was used for the R840 column.
