The Dell PowerEdge R750xa is a dual-socket 2U rack server powered by 3rd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors, purpose-built for demanding, GPU-intensive workloads. It offers 8 memory channels per CPU with up to 32 DDR4 DIMMs at 3200 MT/s, along with PCIe Gen4 support and capacity for up to 8 SAS/SATA SSD or NVMe drives to maximize throughput. As a single platform supporting the full range of PCIe GPUs in the PowerEdge lineup, the R750xa is well-suited for AI/ML training and inferencing, high-performance computing, and virtualization workloads.

Memory

The R750xa supports up to 32 DIMMs, reaching a maximum system capacity of roughly 10TB when combining 8x 512GB Intel Optane Persistent Memory 200 Series modules with 8x 128GB LRDIMMs per CPU, at speeds up to 3200 MT/s.

The R750xa works with registered DIMMs (RDIMMs) and load-reduced DIMMs (LRDIMMs), both using a buffer to reduce memory loading and enable greater density for maximum platform memory capacity. Unbuffered DIMMs (UDIMMs) are not supported.

Dell's latest 2-socket, 2U rack server, the PowerEdge R750xa is purpose-built to run GPU-accelerated workloads, supporting the full range of PCIe GPUs across Dell's PowerEdge portfolio alongside highly scalable memory, I/O, and networking options. It runs on Intel Xeon Scalable processors, supports up to 4 double-wide or 8 single-wide GPUs, offers up to 32 DIMMs, includes PCIe 4.0 expansion slots, and provides a range of NIC technology choices.

The R750xa offers just 4 storage configurations, built around two backplane options — config 0 and config 1.

The R750xa, part of Dell's Gen15 rack server lineup, gains extra networking flexibility through OCP 3.0 support over PCIe Gen4 — enabling NIC installation without sacrificing a PCIe slot. Depending on the card chosen, this can deliver up to 4 ports at speeds of 25Gb each.

Up to four single-width 150W or four double-width 300W GPUs fit at the front of the R750xa, with an additional two single-width 75W GPUs supported at the rear via Riser 3B. Paddle cards supply the PCIe lanes powering these GPUs, as shown in the image with cabling connecting the paddle card to the GPU risers.


NVLINK

Each front riser can house two double-wide GPUs, with the option to add NVLINK for a performance boost — this 600GB/s NVLINK bridge is supported exclusively with A100 and A40 GPUs.
