The Dell PowerEdge R760xa, is a purpose-built server designed to boost acceleration performance across the widest range of customer needs.
Maximize your workload performance and boost outcomes with scale as you grow to compute, flexibly supporting a wide range of GPUs in a dual-socket/2U air-cooled server, accelerating applications from AI training and inferencing to Digital Twins to performance graphics and dense power-user collaboration environments.
The Dell OpenManage™ systems management portfolio delivers a secure, efficient, and comprehensive solution for PowerEdge servers. Simplify, automate and centralize one-to-many management with the OpenManage Enterprise console and iDRAC.
Security is integrated into every phase of the PowerEdge lifecycle, including protected supply chain and factory-to-site integrity assurance. Silicon-based root of trust anchors end-to-end boot resilience while Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and role-based access controls ensure trusted operations

The following lists the features and functions that are in the upcoming 4th Generation Intel® Xeon Scalable Processor offering:
The PowerEdge R760xa offers two types of cooling options:
There is only one type of fan supported in R760xa. Six fans are required to be installed for all R760xa system configurations.
8470Q and 6458Q 350 W CPUs require liquid cooling support. Liquid Cooling is only for the CPUs. When installed the VGA port in the rear will be replaced. There is a kit to re-ad the VGA port in the rear, but it takes up a PCIe slot.
Since the VGA port is removed that means you will have a different I/O board with a connector to the liquid cooling Leak Detector.

The Dell PowerEdge R760XA supports up to 32 DDR5 DIMMs on a two-socket configuration. The System also supports RDIMM 8 TB max, with speeds up to 4800 MT/s and registered ECC DDR5 DIMMs only. Enhanced Memory Performance with DDR5 support and memory speed up to 4800 MT/s in one DIMM per channel (1DPC) and 4400 MT/s in two DIMM per channel (2DPC).
| DIMM type | Rank | Capacity | DIMM rated voltage and speed | Operating Speed | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 DIMM per channel (DPC) | 2 DIMMs per channel (DPC) | ||||
| RDIMM | 1R | 16GB | DDR5 (1.1 V), 4800 MT/s | 4800 MT/s | 4400 MT/s |
| 2R | 32GB, 64GB | DDR5 (1.1 V), 4800 MT/s | 4800 MT/s | 4400 MT/s | |
| 4R | 128GB | DDR5 (1.1 V), 4800 MT/s | 4800 MT/s | 4400 MT/s | |
| 8R | 256GB | DDR5 (1.1 V), 4800 MT/s | 4800 MT/s | 4400 MT/s | |
The Dell Gen16 R760xa Rack Server has 2 options for NIC support. You have the LOM card or the OCP 3.0 slot that can be filled no matter if the LOM is selected.
One thing to note about the OCP 3.0 slot, if you install an x16 card it will be downgraded to an x8 due to the OCP limitations on this system board. Another major difference between the LOM and the OCP is the number of ports each can handle. The LOM only supports two ports while the OCP 3.0 can support a 4 Port card.

Most of the Gen 16 Dell PowerEdge servers use the same Controllers. The Software RAID S160 comes standard on the motherboard. For the NVMe RAID controllers, the PERC 12 H965i or the PERC 11 H755N will do the trick. If you’re having some trouble with choosing the right controller for your desired configuration. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call or write us a chat.
Dell RAID controller options offer performance improvements, including the fPERC solution. fPERC provides a base RAID HW controller without consuming a PCIe slot by using a small form factor and high-density connector to the base planar.

Like most Dell systems, this server has a Boot option with 2x M.2 NVMe drives in the optional BOSS-N1 card.
Installing the BOSS-N1 card carrier does not require the system to be powered off. System shutdown is only required when installing the BOSS-N1 controller card module.

Although the system is a 2U with plenty of room in the back for many risers, this R760XA Dell Rack Server only has 3 Riser Configurations. Each Riser Config holds 4 Riser kits. This system is built for AI and Machine learning. So this rack server can support many GPUs or DPNs. Take a close look at the Riser Configs, if you need more details please click on each item. It will give you a more thorough break down of each.
With the ability to install stacked DW GPUs, a lot of them can be bridged together to make the computing power even greater.
