The PowerEdge R440 system has the following four riser cards
Right Riser connect to CPU 1
Left Riser Connects to CPU 2
The Internal Riser is mainly used for PERC controllers.

LOM Networking (Optional)

The LOM Cards have their own dedicated Mezzanine Slot.

RAID Controllers (Optional)

Embedded S140 software RAID installed by default
There is a dedicated PERC Slot of Internal RAID Options. Please choose the internal Riser Options above.
The new generation PERC 11 H750, H350, and HBA350i adapters cannot be mixed with the PERC H740P, H730P, H330, HBA330 adapters of the previous generations in one system.

Memory

Memory speed on the R440 ranges from 1866 to 2666 MT/s depending on installed DIMM type and configuration, with the default set to the highest speed common to both CPUs and DIMMs.

Boot Options

Non-virtualized OS setups are best paired with BOSS, while virtualized environments run better on IDSDM.

IDSDM or vFlash card

The IDSDM with vFlash module sits in a dedicated rear-chassis slot, using a Dell EMC-proprietary PCIe x1 slot with a USB 3.0 interface. On the PowerEdge R440, card size moves from SD to microSD, supporting 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB for IDSDM and a fixed 16GB for vFlash, with a write-protect switch built directly onto the module.

Boot Optimized Storage Subsystem (BOSS)

As a fast, alternate location for OS installation, BOSS keeps drive-based storage dedicated to data rather than the operating system. This RAID card handles up to two 6Gbps M.2 SATA drives via an x8 connector on PCIe Gen2 x2 lanes, available only in low-profile, half-height form factor.

Storage Controller Options

Combining PERC 11 adapters (H750, H350, HBA350i) with prior-generation adapters (H740P, H730P, H330, HBA330) in the same system isn't supported.
