The Dell EMC PowerEdge R440 delivers the perfect combination of performance and density for HPC and web-tech deployments with a feature set right-sized for scale-out infrastructure environments.
Modern compute platforms from Dell EMC easily scale and leverage key technologies to maximize application performance. The Dell EMC PowerEdge R440 is built on a scalable architecture that provides the choice and flexibility to optimize performance and density.
The Dell EMC OpenManage portfolio helps deliver peak efficiency for PowerEdge servers, delivering intelligent, automated management of routine tasks. Combined with unique agent-free management capabilities, the Dell EMC PowerEdge R440 is simply managed, freeing up time for high profile projects.
Every PowerEdge server is made with a cyber-resilient architecture, building security into all parts of a server’s life cycle. The R440 uses these new security features so you can reliably and securely deliver the right data to where your customers are, no matter where they are. Dell EMC consider each part of system security, from design to end of life, to ensure trust and deliver worry-free, secure systems.
Experience an outstanding balance of performance and density for scale-out computing. The Dell EMC PowerEdge R440 brings you value in a small form factor. Benefit from platform flexibility and maximize performance with dual 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, up to 16 DIMMs and scalable storage that lets you mix SSDs and NVMe PCIe SSDs. Embedded diagnostics and SupportAssist help the Dell EMC PowerEdge R440 to deliver maximum uptime in a worry-free environment.
Modern compute platforms from Dell EMC are designed to scale easily and use technologies that maximize application performance. The PowerEdge R440 rack server provides choice and flexibility that lets you optimize performance and density.
The R440 supports memory speeds of 2666 MT/s, 2400 MT/s, 2133 MT/s, and 1866MT/s depending on the DIMM types installed and the configuration. The default speed is the highest common supported speed between the CPUs and DIMMs.
| DIMM type | DIMM ranking | Capacity | DIMM rated voltage, speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| RDIMM | 1R/2R | 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB | DDR4 (1.2 V), 2666 |
| LRDIMM | 2R | 64 GB | DDR4 (1.2 V), 2666 |
| Expansion card riser | PCIe slots on the riser | Height | Length | Link |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Riser 2 (LOM riser) | Slot 1 | Mezz Type | Mezz Type | x8 |
| Right riser | Slot 2 (R1) | Low Profile | Half Length | x16 |
| Slot 2 (R1A) | Full Height | Half Length | x16 | |
| PCIe passive bridge | Slot-integrated | Low Profile | Half Length | x8 |
| Internal PERC riser | Slot-integrated | Low Profile | Half Length | x8 |
| Left riser | Slot 3 (R2) | Low Profile | Half Length | x16 |
Riser 1A (Config 1)
Riser 1 (Config 2)
Riser 2 (Config 2)The BOSS is recommended for non-virtualized operating systems. Virtualized operating systems are best supported by the IDSDM
The IDSDM with vFlash module has a dedicated slot at the back of the system chassis. This is a Dell EMC-proprietary PCIe x1 slot that uses a USB 3.0 interface to host. In the PowerEdge R440 systems, the IDSDM and vFlash card size changes from SD to microSD and the supported capacity for IDSDM microSD cards are 16 GB, 32 GB, or 64 GB, while for vFlash the capacity is 16 GB only. The write-protect switch is built onboard on the IDSDM module.
The Boot Optimized Storage Subsystem (BOSS) is an alternative, high speed location to install the operating system. This ensures that the drive based storage is not used by the operating system. BOSS is a simple RAID solution card designed specifically for booting the system's operating system, which supports up to two 6 Gbps M.2 SATA drives. This card has a x8 connector using PCIe gen 2.0 x2 lanes, available only in the low-profile and half-height form factor
The new generation PERC 11 H750, H350, and HBA350i adapters cannot be mixed with the PERC H740P, H730P, H330, HBA330 adapters of the previous generations in one system.
