The HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 SW RAID Controller as the standard base controller. It supports up to 10 SATA ports, with 2 reserved for M.2 drives, and offers RAID levels 0, 1, 5, and 10 for SATA drives. While the Non-Hot-Plug (NHP) chassis is limited to the S100i controller, the hot-plug chassis options support the S100i and a range of HPE Smart Array controllers for more advanced RAID configurations and SAS drive support. This flexibility ensures scalability and enhanced performance for a variety of business workloads.
These controllers enable RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60, providing flexibility for various workloads. For SAS controllers with Flash-Backed Write Cache (FBWC), the HPE Smart Storage Battery (P01367-B21) and its holder (786710-B21) are required. Additionally, specific controllers must be matched with compatible drive cages and properly cabled using Mini-SAS kits for optimal functionality. Limitations include the S100i’s support for only SATA drives and non-hot-plug configurations in entry-level setups, while SAS controllers require more advanced configurations and power resources.
The HPE ProLiant ML110 Gen10 supports enhanced storage configurations with HPE Smart Array SAS 12Gb Controllers, enabling high-performance SAS and SATA drive setups. When using the HPE 12G SAS Expander Card Option Kit (P11359-B21) in PCIe Slot 5, the server can support up to 16 SFF SAS/SATA drives. To enable this configuration, a Performance Smart Array Controller is required, along with proper cabling to the backplane using mini-SAS cables.
Additionally, the HPE Smart Storage Battery (P01367-B21) and its holder (786710-B21), sold separately, are necessary to activate Flash-Backed Write Cache (FBWC), ensuring data integrity and performance during power loss. This setup is ideal for enterprise workloads requiring high-speed, reliable storage solutions.
The HPE ProLiant ML110 Gen10 supports flexible M.2 storage configurations for boot and storage needs. The server is compatible with the NS240i-p Boot Device (P12965-B21, P14379-001), which supports two 480GB NVMe SSDs, offering high-speed boot capabilities. Additionally, the server can accommodate the HPE Universal SATA 6G AIC HHHL M.2 SSD Enablement Kit (878783-B21), which allows the installation of M.2 SATA drives. This enablement board is supported in PCIe 3.0 expansion slots 1, 3, and 4, providing flexible options for additional storage. These configurations make the ML110 Gen10 an adaptable solution for performance-driven environments with advanced storage requirements.
The server PCI-e 3.0 slot 1 only supports half-length GPUs, and PCI-e 3.0 slot 4 supports both half-length and full-length GPUs. This server does not support the installation of different GPU models in the same system. GPUs that have a power requirement higher than 75W also require higher wattage of power supplies. In this case, the lower wattage of ATX 350W non-hot-plug power supply does not support these GPUs and you’ll need to upgrade to the 550W or higher. Max support of 2 GPUs unless the RTX4000, only 1 is supported in slot 4 with the GPU holder (P11529-B21).
The HPE ML110 Gen10 requires specific cooling configurations based on workload demands. The HPE ML110 Gen10 Redundant Fan with 4 Fans Kit (869489-B21) includes system and PCI fans, ensuring adequate cooling for high-performance setups. A redundant fan kit is mandatory when a second HDD cage is installed with 15K RPM SAS HDDs or SAS SSDs. Mixed configurations of default and redundant fans are not supported. Additionally, when the redundant fan kit is required, the HPE ML110 Gen10 Redundant Power Supply Enablement Kit (867875-B21) must also be installed to provide adequate power support for the fans. This cooling setup ensures reliability and thermal efficiency in demanding environments.
For the Non-Hot-Plug (NHP) chassis, the supported power supplies are limited to ATX 350W or ATX 550W non-hot-plug power supply kits. The 350W ATX Power Supply Kit provides an affordable entry-level solution for cost-conscious users, while the 550W ATX Power Supply is the standard non-redundant option for most setups.
For advanced configurations requiring redundancy or higher power, the HPE Flexible Slot (Flex Slot) Power Supply can be installed with the HPE ML110 Gen10 Redundant Power Supply Enablement Kit (867875-B21). If only one of the two redundant PSUs is used, the other slot must be filled with the PSU Blank (775423-001).
High-demand setups, such as those with a second HDD cage running 15K RPM SAS HDDs or SAS SSDs, require redundant fans and an 800W Flex Slot PSU to handle the additional load effectively, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
iLO 5is a remote server management processor embedded on the system boards of HPE ProLiant servers and Synergy compute modules. iLO enables the monitoring and controlling of servers from remote locations.
RESTful API is Redfish API conformance and offers simplified server management automation such as configuration and maintenance tasks based on modern industry standards.
HPE OneView Standard can be used for inventory, health monitoring, alerting, and reporting without additional fees. It can monitor multiple HPE server generations. The user interface is similar to the HPE OneView Advanced version, but the software-defined functionality is not available.
