    You have three Chassis to choose from. Each holds a differnt number of Node Servers and can support a different number of drives.

    Each Node Server Supports up to 2 CPUs per and MUST have 1 CPU installed.

    The Apollo 4520 (ONLY) System offers choice of “x16 I/O Module Kit
    Each XL450 Node Server can hold 1 I/O, Mixing is allowed.

    Each XL450 Node Server with 2 CPU's can support 4 PCIe slots.

    FlexibleLOM Adapter (Optional)

    Each XL450 Node Server has 1 Dedicated FlexibleLOM Slot.

    If you're not selecting an HPE Storage Controller, the HPE FIO SW RAID Enable Kit - BIOS Setting | 784308-B21 option may be selected to support RAID and Hot-plug capabilities for SATA hard drives. The B140i does not support SAS hard drives.
    The HPE Manufacturing FIO Enable HBA Mode Setting | 792962-B21 option can only be selected with an HBA card and cannot be selected with HPE Legacy FIO Mode Setting.

    Storage Controller (Optional)

    The P244br and H244br may be used for hardware RAID/HBA of the 2 SFF drives per server node.
    HPE Dynamic Smart Array B140i SATA RAID is located on the server node and controls the two small form factor (SFF/2.5") hard drives and M.2 drives in the server node itself.
    The Management Module already comes with the Storage Battery which can support up to two controllers per server.

    HPE Smart Storage Controllers

    The HPE Smart Storage Battery supports up to two Smart Array Controllers per node. This dual controller configuration is only supported in the 4510 and 4520 Node.

    Below is a table outlining the Controller QTY per Chassis. If you need 4 PCIe slots, 2 Processors are required.

    The total PCIe slots available depend on the number of processors selected. One processor provides support for 2 PCIe slots (slots 1 and 2) and Two processors provide support for 4 PCIe slots per XL450 Node Server. Each riser has 1 FlexibleLOM slot and 4 PCIe slots.


    The Apollo 4520 System offers an extra PCIe Riser options. The HPE Apollo 4500 x16 I/O Module Kit (855128-B21). Which contains one x16 bus width slot and three x8 PCIe slots.
