The HPE ProLiant Compute DL580 Gen12 is a high-density, four-socket 4U server built for data-intensive workloads like databases, analytics, and big data. It's powered by Intel Xeon 6 processors (up to 86 cores) and up to 16 TB of DDR5 memory at speeds up to 6400 MT/s, delivering up to 2x higher general-compute performance than previous generations. New upgrades include support for up to 32 mixed SFF/EDSFF E3.S drives, an optional front-accessible NS204i-u boot device, up to 12 PCIe Gen5 slots plus two OCP 3.0 slots, and an available Direct Liquid Cooling module. It's managed via HPE iLO 7, which adds a hardware-based secure enclave and quantum-resistant firmware signing for enhanced security.

Server Fans- Server ships with 4 dual-rotor hot-plug fans by default (8 rotors total) for main system cooling

- If a second rotor fails, or a fan is missing, the operating system performs a graceful shutdown
PCIe Fan Adapters- PCIe fans are only used when a DPU (Data Processing Unit) is installed

The MR (MegaRAID) and SR (Smart Array) controller families use different management tools and cannot be installed together in the same server. With a tri-mode U.3 backplane, both series support SAS, SATA, and NVMe drives, allowing mixed drive types in one system. This server has no built-in hardware RAID, so a storage controller is required for any RAID functionality — direct-attached SATA drives without one run in AHCI mode only.
