The FAS3140 comes with Snapshot® which reduces backup times to minutes. SnapManager® quickly returns applications to the same point in time as recovered data. NetApp's high-performance RAID 6 (RAID-DP) offers dual parity and better data protection and capacity utilization than RAID 5 and RAID 1+0.

The FAS3140 offers a great mix of value and performance against a wide range of application workloads, file services, OLTP, and messaging and collaboration. It's high-bandwidth, 64-bit controller architecture with large memory cache and the latest I/O technologies, provides data at the rates you need to keep the most demanding business and technical applications running smoothly. The FAS3140 lets you combine high-performance Fibre Channel and large-capacity SATA disk drives in storage tiers for optimal performance and cost. You can also consolidate block and file storage by providing native support of the FCP, iSCSI, FCoE, NFS and CIFS storage protocols via both Fibre Channel and Ethernet interfaces.

The FAS3140 utilizes up to 420 disks and can support a maximum raw capacity of 420TB in a Active-Active configuration. Supports 10GbE, 8Gbps FC, 40x 4Gbps FC ports and all the elite storage networking protocols (FC SAN [FCP], IP SAN [iSCSI, FCoE], NAS [NFS, CIFS]).
