With computing capability previously only seen in 2U servers, the ultra-dense PowerEdge R630 two-socket 1U rack server delivers an impressive solution for virtualization environments, large business applications or transactional databases.

The Dell PowerEdge R630 is a two-socket rack server that is highly versatile and can be configured for a variety of solutions. It features the latest Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v4 product family, up to 24 DIMMs of high-performance DDR4 memory, and a broad range of local storage options. The R630 can be configured with up to 24 x 1.8-inch hard drives, 10 x 2.5-inch hard drives, 8 x 2.5-inch hard drives, or up to 4 Express Flash NVMe PCIe SSDs. It also has up to 3 PCIe 3.0 expansion slots, two AC or DC redundant power supply units, and can deliver peak performance.

The R630 can be configured with an all-flash drive configuration of 24 x 1.8" SSDs, making it ideal for blazingly fast transactional databases. It can also provide a dense, resource-rich midsize virtualization environment to drive business intelligence applications, from customer relationship management (CRM) to enterprise resource planning (ERP), while saving space, energy, and capital costs.

The R630 is highly versatile and can be used for a variety of solutions, such as large-scale transactional and analytical processing solutions like Oracle and SQL, in-memory online analytical processing (OLAP), and online transaction processing (OLTP) databases. It can also be used for Exchange and SharePoint applications, improving IO performance, and virtual machine (VM) performance.

The R630 is a reliable, general-purpose server for business-critical applications, with automated management and high-availability features like redundant power supply units (PSUs), hot-plug and swappable PSUs, HDDs, and fans, and a dual SD card option for failsafe hypervisors.

With the 8-drive bay, 10-drive bay or 24-drive bay chassis options, the R630 supports five internal storage options.

The PowerEdge R630 has an option to support up to four 2.5”, hot-plug Express Flash PCIe SSDs in the 10 x 2.5” chassis.

Memory

The R630 server supports flexible memory configurations ranging from capacities of 4GB to 768GB. The system supports up to 12 DIMMs per processor (up to 24 DIMMs in a dual-processor configuration). The R630 has four memory channels per processor, with each channel supporting up to three DIMMs.

Storage Controller

The Dell R630 Rack Server can support two PERC on the 24-bay Chassis. The main PERC slot is a dedicated spot on the system board for the Mini-PERC Form Factor. The second PERC will have to be a PCIe Adapter PERC. Please check the PCIe slots details above for more information on which slot is ideal for the PERC Adapter.
