Frequently Asked Questions

The R250 takes one Intel Xeon E-2300 series processor with up to 8 cores, or an Intel Pentium processor. With Pentium, memory runs at up to 2666 MT/s.

It has four DDR4 ECC UDIMM slots for 8GB, 16GB or 32GB modules, up to 128GB in total, at speeds up to 3200 MT/s. The DIMM slots are not hot-pluggable.

Up to four 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drives (HDD or SSD) in hot-plug or non-hot-plug form, or two 3.5-inch cabled drives. Controllers include PERC H345, H355, H755 and HBA355i. Please specify your capacity needs when you submit your quote configuration.

No. Dell's technical specifications list one AC cabled power supply for the R250, with 450W Bronze, 450W Platinum and 700W Titanium options. For hot-swap redundant PSUs, consider the PowerEdge R350.

The R250 moves from Xeon E-2200 to Xeon E-2300, raises memory from 64GB at 2666 MT/s to 128GB at 3200 MT/s, and uses PCIe Gen4 slots with newer PERC 11 controllers. Both are compact 1U single-socket servers with four DIMM slots and up to four 3.5-inch drives.
