The Dell PowerEdge XE9785L is a liquid-cooled 3OU compute node for Dell's IR7000 rack, built for AI model training, fine-tuning and inference at scale. Two 5th Gen AMD EPYC 9005 processors with up to 192 cores each drive eight AMD Instinct MI355X or NVIDIA HGX B300 GPUs with 288GB each. Cold plates cool the CPUs, GPUs and NVLink switches, and power comes from the rack's 33kW power shelf. Fully configurable.

It takes one of two eight-GPU boards: eight AMD Instinct MI355X 288GB 1400W OAM accelerators connected through AMD Infinity Fabric, or eight NVIDIA HGX B300 288GB 1100W SXM6 GPUs connected through NVLink. Every GPU is direct liquid cooled, and the B300 board adds eight embedded ConnectX-8 OSFP ports for back-end cluster networking.

Two 5th Gen AMD EPYC 9005 Series processors, with SKUs from 48 up to 192 cores, speeds up to 3.6 GHz and up to 500W TDP. Each socket has twelve DDR5 channels at one DIMM per channel, giving 24 RDIMM slots that run at up to 6400 MT/s. With 96GB or 128GB RDIMMs memory reaches 2.3TB or 3TB, and Dell lists 256GB RDIMMs for up to 6TB as a future option.

Storage is NVMe only: up to sixteen E1.S SSDs or eight 2.5-inch U.2 SSDs, with room for two more U.2 drives on CEM cards in the PCIe slots, plus an embedded BOSS with two M.2 NVMe SSDs in hardware RAID 0/1 for the OS. With MI355X GPUs there are up to twelve front PCIe Gen5 x16 FHHL slots, or four with B300, and one OCP 3.0 NIC slot with x16 lanes. Cold plates on the CPUs, GPUs and NVLink switches connect to the rack's liquid loop through quick disconnects at the rear, and twelve hot-swap fans, four on the GPU board and eight on the CPU tray, cool the rest with N+1 redundancy. Dell supports coolant supply temperatures up to 40°C. The node has no power supplies of its own; it draws 49V DC from the IR7000 rack's 33kW power shelf, which holds six 5500W hot-swap PSUs.

Both run two 5th Gen AMD EPYC 9005 CPUs, 24 DDR5-6400 RDIMM slots, eight MI355X or HGX B300 GPUs and iDRAC10. The XE9785 is a self-contained 10U air-cooled server with twelve 3200W PSUs and up to 16 E3.S or 10 U.2 drives. The XE9785L is a 3OU liquid-cooled node that installs in Dell's IR7000 rack, takes its power from the rack's power shelf and holds up to 16 E1.S or 8 U.2 drives, for dense, rack-scale GPU deployments.
