The EMC VNX5800 Disk Processor Enclosure (DPE) is a high-performance, scalable storage platform designed to meet the needs of growing mid-tier enterprises. With support for up to 750 drives, the VNX5800 accommodates various drive types including 3.5" and 2.5" SAS, NL-SAS, and Flash, allowing for flexible storage expansion. The VNX5800 supports a wide range of RAID configurations (0, 1, 3, 5, 6, 10), and its modular design includes dual Storage Processors powered by 2.0 GHz six-core Xeon E5 CPUs with 32 GB RAM. The system offers robust I/O capabilities through support for Fibre Channel (FC), iSCSI, and FCoE, and includes five I/O module slots per Storage Processor for maximum connectivity.
The VNX5800 delivers unified storage capabilities by supporting file (NAS), block, and object protocols concurrently. With 2–6 Data Movers and up to two Control Stations, the VNX5800 offers enterprise-grade performance and reliability for demanding workloads. Each Data Mover blade in the VNX5800 uses a 2.4 GHz four-core Xeon 5600 processor and supports up to 256 TB per blade, housed within 2U enclosures. The VNX5800 also supports various Disk Array Enclosures (DAEs) including 15x3.5", 25x2.5", 60x3.5", and 120x2.5" configurations, making it one of the most versatile and expandable platforms in the VNX family.
The SPs in this model use a 2.0 GHz, six-core Xeon E5 processor with 32 GB of RAM, supporting a maximum of 750 drives with the following host connectivity options: FC, iSCSI, and FCoE.Each SP has five I/O module slots, and the VNX5800 supports the use of all five. Any slots without I/O modules are populated with blanks (to ensure proper airflow).
Data Mover Enclosures (DMEs) with blades containing 2.4 GHz, four-core Xeon 5600 processors with 12 GB RAM per blade, with a maximum storage capacity of 256 TB per blade.The DMEs can house two blades per 2U enclosure, and each blade can accept a maximum of three I/O modules for front-end connectivity.
The VNX5800 can support up to 2 Control Stations.
