The NetApp FAS6040 is a 6U, single-chassis storage system designed for organizations requiring dependable performance and capacity in a stand-alone controller setup. It houses dual 64-bit, single-core 2.80GHz processors and supports 16GB of memory in single-controller mode (scalable to 32GB in an HA configuration), ensuring consistent data throughput for mission-critical workloads. Data protection is provided through RAID 4 and RAID-DP, safeguarding against drive failures.
Connectivity options include six 1GbE ports and eight Fibre Channel ports, allowing for flexible integration into a wide range of network environments. The chassis also provides three PCI-X and five PCIe expansion slots for additional network or storage interface cards. Remote management capabilities streamline maintenance and simplify day-to-day administration tasks.
With support for up to 840 drives and a maximum capacity of 3.36PB, the FAS6040 can scale as data requirements grow. It is compatible with multiple NetApp disk shelves, including the DS14 series, DS2246, DS424x, and DS4486 models, and accommodates various drive interfaces—FC, MSATA, NL-SAS, SAS, SATA, and SSD—providing ample flexibility for performance and capacity optimization.
