UTA2 ports

A UTA2 (Unified Target Adapter 2) port on a NetApp system is a flexible, multi-protocol port that can support both Fibre Channel (FC) and Ethernet-based protocols (FCoE or iSCSI over Ethernet). These ports allow NetApp controllers to connect to storage networks using different protocols without needing separate dedicated adapters.

MetroCluster

A MetroCluster is a high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solution from NetApp that provides synchronous data replication between two geographically separated sites. It ensures zero data loss and automatic failover in case of a site failure.

8-Node MetroCluster

An 8-node MetroCluster expands the architecture to four HA pairs (eight controllers total) across two sites, offering increased performance, scalability, and redundancy. This configuration is suited for large enterprises with high I/O workloads and critical applications that require greater throughput and storage capacity while maintaining zero data loss failover across sites.
