The Dell EMC PowerEdge R930 rack server is a powerhouse designed to meet the most demanding enterprise applications. With industry-leading internal storage and memory scalability, it optimizes application performance and accelerates enterprise applications. The R930 is the ideal foundation for in-memory databases, OLTP, OLAP, CRM, ERP, Unix to Linux migrations, and more.
Featuring the latest Intel Xeon E7-8800 v4 and E7-4800 v4 processors, the R930 is highly scalable, with up to 96 DIMMs DDR4 memory, up to 10 PCIe 3.0 slots, and support for up to (2) PERCs and (2) SAS NDC on a 24 Bay Chassis. It can accommodate up to (24) 2.5" drives or up to (16) 2.5" drives with (8) PCI Express NVMe storage, making it highly adaptable to any workload.
With all 96 processing cores available, the R930 can access up to 12TB (with 64GB DIMMs) DDR4 memory and optimize performance across compute, memory, and I/O with up to eight PCIe SSDs. It offers built-in Intel E7 RAS features to protect mission-critical and data-intensive applications. The R930 is also designed for scalability and speed, flexibly scaling to meet virtually any challenge.
The R930 can accelerate large applications such as ERP, CRM, and business intelligence with the capacity to quickly respond to business growth demands. It can consolidate multiple corporate-wide applications to a single server and enable faster access to critical business-application data with in-memory database capability. The R930 can also efficiently support SAN environments with Dell Fluid Cache for SAN in combination with up to eight Express Flash SSDs, making it highly adaptable to any workload.
A 24 Bay chassis with 1 PERC 9 and 1 SAS Expander Daughter Card.
A 24 Bay Chassis with 2 PERC's and 2 SAS Expander Daughter Cards. The hard drives are located in hard drive slots 0 through 11 (bay 1) and 12 through 23 (bay 2).
RDIMMs and LRDIMMs cannot be mixed. All DIMMS will be installed in a DIMM Riser cage and placed in the Riser/Fan cage. There are a total of 8 DIMM Risers for a total of 96 DIMMs per server with a 4 socket connection. If there are any empty DIMM Risers a blank must fill its spot.

| Memory module sockets | Memory capacity | Minimum RAM | Maximum RAM |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ninety-six 240-pin sockets | 64 GB quad rank (LRDIMMs) 4 GB or 8GB single rank (RDIMMs) 8 GB, 16 GB, or 32 GB dual rank (RDIMMs) |
192 GB with dual processor with 4 memory risers 384 GB with quad processor with 8 memory risers |
3.07 TB with dual processor with 4 memory risers 6.14 TB with quad processor with 8 memory risers |
The R930 Dell Rack Server has 10 PCIe 3.0 expansion card slots that include one dedicated slot for PERC 9 storage card and one dedicated riser-slot for Network Daughter Card (NDC). There are also two Other dedicated Slots for the Optional Left and Right Riser which provide 2 PCIe slots each. Please read the manual below for more detailed information.

The Network Daughter Card (NDC) contains the complete Network Interface Card (NIC) subsystem, it replaces the traditional LAN-on-Motherboard (LOM) design with the flexible new features, network types, speed and easy to upgrade from 1G to 10G LAN speeds.
NDC riser is installed on a dedicated PCIe slot 2 on the system board. It provides the following interfaces from the system board:

The following PERCs are supported in the Dell PowerEdge R930 Rack Server. The system supports Dual PERCs when expanding to 24 drives.
The system's storage uses SAS expander daughter card to facilitate:
The SAS expander daughter card tray supports up to two daughter cards (depending on the system configuration).
Your system supports up to four 750 W or four 1100 W AC power supply units (PSUs) that are connected to the system power distribution boards.
