The HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 Server delivers enhanced storage density and performance in a 2U form factor, designed for modern data-intensive workloads. It supports up to 28 LFF or 54 SFF hot-plug drives, providing exceptional capacity and flexibility. The LFF chassis allows up to 448 TB of storage using 16 TB drives, scaling to over 8 PB in a standard 42U rack. For high-performance applications, the SFF chassis supports up to 54 NVMe, SAS, or SSD drives, offering increased throughput and reduced latency—ideal for workloads like big data analytics, AI, and content delivery. With support for NVMe storage and HPE Smart Array controllers, the Gen10 version delivers faster performance and improved scalability over its predecessor.
The HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 Server focuses on storage-intensive and compute-friendly workloads but does not natively support GPU accelerators. Instead, its design prioritizes high-capacity storage, flexible drive configurations, and advanced management features, making it a robust solution for enterprise applications like big data, data analytics, and video streaming environments.

Apollo 4200 Gen10 LFF
Apollo 4200 Gen10 SFFThe HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 server supports up to 6 SFF NVMe drives in the rear drive cage. By default, all drives connect to Processor 1 via PCIe slot 2 without requiring a controller mode. For better performance, optional modes are available: the HPE NVMe CPU2 x6 FIO Controller Mode (P09657-B21) routes all 6 drives to Processor 2 via PCIe slot 6, while the HPE NVMe CPU1 x4/CPU2 x2 FIO Controller Mode (P09658-B21) splits 4 drives to Processor 1 and 2 to Processor 2. These options optimize PCIe bandwidth for high-performance NVMe workloads.

There are 7 Total PCIe slots but Slots 4 and 5 are only available with the rear riser cage installed (P07248-B21). This Riser cage will provide 2 extra SFFs and 2 FHHL PCIe slots. When this Riser cage is installed PCIe slot 2 will not be available. This slot is where the riser cage sits.

The HPE NS204i-p NVMe OS Boot Device is a dedicated hardware RAID 1 solution, specifically designed to ensure reliable and secure operating system boot functionality in the HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 server. It features two M.2 NVMe SSDs configured in RAID 1, providing automatic mirroring for redundancy and fault tolerance. This device utilizes a PCIe3 x8 interface with x2 lanes, delivering high-speed boot performance while conserving valuable storage drive bays for data.

The HPE P824i-p Smart Array Controller Enablement Kit (P11274-B21) supports up to 24 SAS/SATA drives in the 24 LFF chassis with 12G SAS lanes for high performance and advanced RAID (0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60) or JBOD flexibility. Featuring a 4 GB flash-backed write cache (FBWC) and integration with the HPE Smart Storage Battery, it enhances I/O performance while protecting data during power loss. With tools like HPE MR Storage Administrator and features for data integrity, it delivers reliable, efficient storage management for large-capacity workloads.
