Dell PowerEdge XE9640

The Dell PowerEdge XE9640 is a 2U dual-socket GPU server and Dell's first liquid-cooled 4-way GPU platform, a dense building block for AI and HPC clusters. It takes four NVIDIA H100 SXM GPUs linked by NVLink or four Intel Data Center GPU Max 1550 OAM GPUs linked by XeLink, with two 4th or 5th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 64 cores each and up to 2TB of DDR5. CPUs and GPUs are direct liquid cooled. Fully configurable.

NVIDIA GPU builds take 8, 16 or 32 DDR5 RDIMMs for up to 2TB; Intel GPU builds use 16 of the 32 slots for up to 1TB. Speeds reach 5600 MT/s with one DIMM per channel and 4400 MT/s with two.

Up to four 2.5-inch NVMe SSDs at the front (61.44TB max) and BOSS-N1 with two M.2 SSDs for boot. There is no PERC RAID controller; software RAID S160 is supported. Please specify your capacity needs when you submit your quote configuration.

Yes. Its processors and GPUs are direct liquid cooled at all times through an internal manifold, so it needs a rack liquid cooling setup such as Dell's 42U or 48U XE9640 rack manifolds. Four sets of hot-swap fans cool the remaining components.

Both run four NVIDIA H100 SXM GPUs on 4th or 5th Gen Xeon. The XE9640 packs them into 2U with full direct liquid cooling and adds an Intel Max 1550 GPU option, while the 4U XE8640 uses liquid-assisted air cooling with no facility water and supports up to 4TB memory and 8 drives.
