Mixing of the processors is not recommended. If a liquid-cooled processor is installed in one socket, then the second processor used must be of the same type.

Cooling Options
The Dell PowerEdge R660 supports Liquid Cooling and Air Cooling options.
Heatsink & FansThe PowerEdge R660 system supports up to four sets of standard (STD) cooling fans or four sets of High-performance gold (HPR GOLD) cooling fans. The fan's selection is based on the TDP of the processor.
If rear drives are installed in the 10SFF Chassis you will need Gold Fans.
If you have a processor over 185W TDP then you will need the Direct Liquid Cooling Module installed.

Air ShroudThis system has a few cooling shrouds for specific configurations. All air-cooling configurations require a CPU shroud. You must Install a PCH shroud for no riser configuration.
The Rear drive shroud is needed for air-cooling with 2x 2.5-inch rear-drive configuration.
If you plan to install an A2 GPU, you will need to install the blank on R1p riser for correct airflow.

Networking OCP 3.0
The PowerEdge R660 system supports up to two Network Interface Controller (NIC) ports embedded on the LAN on Motherboard (LOM) card and up to four ports integrated on the Open Compute Project (OCP) card.
The system allows either LOM card or an OCP card or both to be installed in the system.
PCIe Riser Configuration Options
The PowerEdge R660 have a no riser option. If no risers are installed you will need to make sure the PCH Air Shroud is installed for the correct air flow.

With 3 PCIe slots on the back of the server, you have the ability to fill all 3 PCIe slots with 1 Single Wide 75W GPU. If you plan to install the A2 GPU there is a special Air shroud for it. Install A2 blank on R1p riser for FH riser configuration with A2 GPU. Only the Risers with a P on them hold GPUs.
Storage Controllers - Front PERC
Dell RAID controller options offer performance improvements, including the fPERC solution. fPERC provides a base RAID HW controller without consuming a PCIe slot by using a small form factor and high-density connector to the base planar.
16G PERC Controller offerings are a heavy leverage of 15G PERC family. The Value and Value Performance levels carry over to 16G from 15G. New to 16G is the Avenger-based Premium Performance tier offering. This high-end offering drives IOPs performance and enhanced SSD performance.

The BOSS-N1 provides 2x HWRAID M.2 NVMe SSDs that are Hot-swappable with Single drive RAID 0 and dual drive RAID 1 support.
