The NetApp FAS8060 is a robust storage solution housed in a single 6U chassis, featuring a standalone single controller configuration. It is equipped with a powerful 2x 64-bit 8-core 2.10 GHz processor and 64GB of memory (expandable to 128GB in HA mode). Connectivity is extensive, offering 4 x RJ45 (1Gb) Ethernet ports, 4 x SFP (10Gb) Ethernet ports, 4 x SFP+ UTA2 ports (10Gb/16Gb), and 4 x QSFP SAS ports (6Gb), alongside 4 PCIe expansion slots. With a maximum drive capacity of 1200 and a staggering 15PB (15,000TB) of storage, it supports various disk shelves including DS212C, DS2246, DS224C, DS4243, DS4246, DS4486, and DS460C.
The physical footprint of the FAS8060 is compact yet substantial, with a chassis height of 10.2" (25.9 cm), a width of 17.6" (44.7 cm) without mounting flanges, and a depth of 28.9" (73.4 cm) including cable management. Weighing up to 121.5 lb (55.1 kg), it’s designed for efficient rack integration. The system supports up to two controllers per chassis, each mirroring the connectivity options of the standalone setup, and includes remote management capabilities. Its NVRAM ranges from 8GB in a single configuration to 16GB in HA mode, ensuring data integrity and performance.
Storage flexibility is a key feature, with the FAS8060 supporting a maximum of 1200 drives across various types—MSATA, SATA, NL-SAS, SAS, and up to 240 SSDs—though it has no internal drive bays. It offers RAID 4, RAID 6 (RAID-DP), and RAID-TEC for data protection, and can connect to an impressive array of external disk shelves: up to 50 each of DS212C, DS2246, DS224C, DS4243, and DS4246, 25 DS4486, and 20 DS460C. This scalability and versatility make the FAS8060 an ideal choice for enterprises requiring high-capacity, high-performance storage solutions.
