EmeddedLOM Rack Servers
Servers with an embedded LAN on Motherboard (LOM) come with built-in HPE 1Gb Ethernet 4-Port 331i network interfaces adapter, providing out-of-the-box networking capabilities without the need for additional NICs. Both the NC and non-NC chassis have the option of a FlexibleLOM or Stand-up cards for network capabilities.
Network Choice (NC) Rack Servers
The Network Choice configuration allows flexibility in selecting network adapters, as it doesn't come with an embedded network interface card (NIC). This enables customization based on specific networking requirements. Both the NC and non-NC chassis have the option of a FlexibleLOM or Stand-up cards for network capabilities.
Basic Carrier (BC) Rack Server
The BC configuration is designed to support drives that are housed in basic carriers, as opposed to smart carriers. This means the server is compatible with drives installed in these simpler carriers, which may lack some of the advanced features found in smart carriers.
In BC-configured servers, certain storage controllers, such as the Tri-Mode MegaRAID Controllers, are only supported when using drives in basic carriers. Configurations must not mix BC and SC drives.
Basic Carrier (BC) Drives
Provides basic storage functionality without advanced monitoring or user feedback features, ideal for cost-effective setups with simple storage needs.
Smart Carrier (SC) Drives
Offers advanced monitoring, LED indicators, and data protection features, making it better suited for enterprise environments that require proactive management and high availability.
Memory | 24 DIMM
The DL380 Gen10 Rack Server features 24 DIMM slots, with 12 slots per processor, organized into 6 channels per processor and supporting up to 2 DIMMs per channel. Mixing RDIMM and LRDIMM memory is unsupported. Only 2nd Gen processors can support Intel Optane Persistent Memory, allowing a maximum of 12 DIMMs per server, and it can only be mixed with either RDIMMs or LRDIMMs, not both.

HPE Smart Storage Controllers
The DL380 supports the Type-A AROC Controllers, by installing a Type-A controller you will save a PCI slot on the risers. This is a great way to keep flexibility without compromising an expansion slot. Please view the Spec manual for more details on the cabling of these controllers.
HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 SW RAID is off by default and must be enabled. The S100i uses 14 embedded SATA ports, but only 12 ports are accessible as 2 are leveraged to support the 2 M.2 options on the primary riser.
If more than 8 SATA devices are being supported on this S100i controller, then 1 of the SAS 3POS Cable Kit (826709-B21) is required.
Performance RAID Controllers require the HPE Smart Hybrid Capacitor (P02377-B21) or the HPE Smart Storage Battery (P01366-B21) which are sold separately.
Tri-Mode MegaRAID Controllers - Basic Carrier Only
The HPE DL380 Gen 10 Rack Server has only two Chassis options that support the Tri-Mode MegaRAID Controllers.
- Only support Basic Carrier SFF SAS/SATA storage devices
- Mixing of BC and SC carrier types is not allowed.
- NVMe is not supported

HPE DL380 Gen10 M.2 Drives
The M.2 Drive support Software RAID only and it must be enabled by selecting the SW RAID (784308-B21). The Primary Riser support 3 PCI slots 1 GPU Power Connector and Dual M.2 drives. This is the only riser that supports the M.2 on the riser card without taking up a PCIe slot.
All Servers come with the S100i Smart Array Controller with embedded software RAID support for 12 drives. The S100i
uses 14 embedded SATA ports, but only 12 ports are accessible as 2 are leveraged to support the 2 M.2 options on the
primary riser.
Some other ways to install M.2 Drives is with the uFF drive bays. The rear Premium 2SFF HDD Kit (826687-B21) and 2SFF HDD Riser Kit (826688-B21) both support the use of uFF drives. The last way to install M.2 drives is for a Boot Option only. The HPE NS204i-p x2 Lanes NVMe PCIe3 x8 OS Boot Device (P12965-B21) comes with 2x480GB M.2 Drives.

HPE DL380 Gen10 GPU / Workload Accelerator
The Table below will let you know how many of each GPU can be installed at one time. Performance fans (867810-B21) are required for all GPU installations (Note these ship as standard with the 24SFF and 12LFF models).
Performance Heatsinks (826706-B21) are required for Double Wide GPU installations (Note these ship as standard on Processors over 130W processors).
Mixing of GPUs is not supported. With the Standard Primary Riser the top x8 PCIe Slot connector will not be accessible with the installation of a doublewide GPU.
The installation of the 4 LFF mid-tray will not support any GPU cards.
There are even more rules and limitations with certain GPU configurations. Please read the Spec Manual at the bottom of the page for more detailed information.

Networking Abilities | FlexibleLOM, Stand-up card
The DL380 Gen10 embedded LOM chassis ships standard with 4x 1 Gb embedded. When you have an NC Chassis selected, you are required to install either a FlexibleLOM or a Stand-up card. Not all networking options can be selected as the primary networking choice on the Networking Choice (NC) chassis. Please read the Spec Manual for more details on which card can and cannot be used as the primary networking option for the NC Chassis.
A minimum of two Gigabytes (2 GB) of server memory is required per adapter.
Pensando Distributed Services Cards (DSC)
The Pensando Distributed Services Card (DSC) is a hardware accelerator card designed to enhance network and security services in data centers. By offloading and accelerating various network functions and services to the DSC, it aims to improve network performance, reduce latency, increase security, and provide better visibility into network traffic. If you install the iLO Sideband Management Adaptive LOM Module you will are also required to install the Pensando Distributed Services Platform DSC-25 Enterprise 10/25Gb 2-port SFP28 Card (P26966-B21).
The HPE for Pensando DSP DSC-25 2p SFP28 Card (P26966-B21) is a dual-port, single-slot, half-height, half-length (HHHL) SFP28 network
adapter. It has LEDs for Link (L) and Activity (A) for each port. A half-height bracket is shown in the following illustration with
SFP28 ports and LEDs.

HPE DL380 Gen10 Cooling
The High-Performance Heat Sink Kit (826706-B21) is required for GPU installation and processors with a TDP above 130W. Another cooling kit that is needed with certain installations is the High-Performance Fan Kit (867810-B21). This Fan kit is required to support GPU, NVMe Drives, Rear drives, and when all three front-drive boxes are filled.

HPE Flexible Slot (Flex Slot) Power Supplies share a common electrical and physical design that allows for hot plug, tool-less installation into HPE ProLiant Gen10 Performance Servers. Flex Slot power supplies are certified for high-efficiency operation and offer multiple power output options, allowing users to "right-size" a power supply for specific server configurations. This flexibility helps to reduce power waste, lower overall energy costs, and avoid "trapped" power capacity in the data center.

- The Default Primary Riser supports 2 M.2 drives on the riser card.
- High-performance fan kits are required for rear drives, Graphics (GPU) cards, or NVMe configurations.
- The 3 LFF rear drive box will consume space for the secondary and tertiary riser.
- The 8 NVMe drive option (826689-B21) can only be leveraged in the SFF chassis and replaces Box 1, 2, or 3,
MAX of 20 NVMe drives supported with a Partial population of Box 1. - The Universal Media Bay (826708-B21) is not available with the LFF chassis or the 24 SFF front end, and can only be populated in Box 1.
