The R750xa supports up to 32 DIMMs, with maximum capacity around 10TB per system for 8x 512GB Intel Optane Persistent Memory 200 Series and 8x 128GB LRDIMM connected to per CPU and speeds of up to 3200MT/s.

The R750xa supports registered (RDIMMs) and load reduced DIMMs (LRDIMMs) which use a buffer to reduce memory loading and provide greater density, allowing for the maximum platform memory capacity. Unbuffered DIMMs (UDIMMs) are not supported

Storage Configuration/Controller Options

The Dell™ PowerEdge™ R750xa is Dell's latest 2-socket, 2U rack servers purposely designed to run all GPU accelerated workloads by supporting the entire PCIe GPUs in Dell™ PowerEdge™ portfolio and using highly scalable memory, I/O, and network options. The systems feature the Intel Xeon Scalable Processor, support to up to 4 double-wide and 8 single-wide GPUs, up to 32 DIMMs, PCI Express® (PCIe) 4.0 enabled expansion slots, and a choice of network interface technologies to cover NIC.

There are only 4 storage configurations in the R750xa, which comprise two backplane options (config 0, config1):

  • Up to 8x SAS/SATA SSD in a RAID config
  • Up to 8x NVMe in a RAID config
  • Up to 6x NVMe direct attach
  • Up to 4x SAS/SATA SSD in a RAID config + Up to 4x NVMe direct attach

Dell's RAID controller options offer performance improvements, including the fPERC solution. fPERC provides a base RAID HW controller without consuming a PCIe slot by using a small form factor and high-density connector to the base planar.

The R750xa, Gen 15 Rack server by Dell. Provides extra networking via the Open Compute Project (OCP) 3.0 which supports PCIe Gen4. This allows the server to install a NIC without losing a PCIe slot. Depending on the cards support you can have up to 4 ports reaching speeds of 25Gb per port.

The Dell R750xa holds up to four single-width 150 W or four double-width 300 W in the front of the server. Along with two single-width 75 W at the rear of the system on Riser 3B. The Paddle cards provide the PCIe lanes needed for the GPUs to run. The Image here displays this with the paddle card cabled to the GPU Risers.


NVLINK

The Front GPUs can hold two Double Wide GPUs on each riser. You have the option for to install the NVLINK to boost performance. This 600GB/s NVLINK Bridges is enabled for A100, A40 GPUs only.
