The EMC VNX5500 Disk Processor Enclosure (DPE) is a powerful, mid-tier unified storage system designed to scale with growing business demands. Supporting up to 250 drives, the VNX5500 accommodates 3.5" and 2.5" SAS, NL-SAS, and Flash drives in various DAE configurations, including 15-bay, 25-bay, and high-density 60-bay enclosures. With support for RAID levels 0, 1, 3, 5, 6, and 10, the VNX5500 provides robust data protection and flexible performance options. This enclosure leverages dual storage processors with Intel Xeon 4-core 2.13GHz CPUs and DDR3 RAM to power advanced block-level protocols like Fibre Channel (FC), iSCSI, and FCoE.
The VNX5500 also excels in unified deployments by integrating block and file capabilities through X-Blade Data Movers and Control Stations. It supports NAS protocols including NFS, CIFS, MPFS, and pNFS, delivering concurrent access for diverse workloads. Designed for enterprise environments, the VNX5500 features UltraFlex I/O modules, redundant standby power supplies, and modular scalability. Whether used for virtualization, corporate IT, or high-throughput data environments, the VNX5500 stands out for its high availability, protocol flexibility, and efficient storage expansion capabilities.
Includes a 3U disk processor enclosure (DPE), a 1U 1.2 KW standby power supply (SPS), and 2U or 3U disk-array enclosures (DAEs) for holding hard disk drives that are integrated to facilitate Fibre Channel, Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), and iSCSI Block services to Windows® and UNIX ® hosts.
Adds the 2U Data Mover enclosure (DME) and 1U Control Station (CS) to the 3U DPE, 1U SPS, and 2U, 3U, or 4U DAEs to facilitate file services to CIFS/NFS clients.
Uses the same hardware as the File-only configuration but adds FC, iSCSI, and FCoE I/O connectivity to provide Block services to host simultaneously so as to provide File services to clients.
