The Dell 405HT MicroSD Reader Module is designed for the PowerEdge MX740c compute sled, enabling the use of the Internal Dual SD Module (IDSDM) and vFlash functionalities. This module supports up to two MicroSD cards for IDSDM, providing a redundant boot solution for hypervisors, and an additional MicroSD card for vFlash, offering dedicated storage for iDRAC9 features such as virtual media and system logs.
Installation involves connecting the module to the system board via a dedicated slot, with careful attention to the orientation of the MicroSD cards. The module includes two DIP switches to control write protection settings. It's important to note that the IDSDM/vFlash module is not hot-pluggable; therefore, the system must be powered down before installation or removal. For optimal performance and compatibility, Dell recommends using certified MicroSD cards with capacities of 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB.
