The HPE ProLiant BL460c Gen10 Server Blade now offers the Intel Xeon Processor Scalable Family with up to 25%5 bin to bin performance gain over the previous generation, plus 2666 MT/s HPE DDR4 SmartMemory. Additional support includes tiered storage controller options, internal 12 Gb/s SAS, 20 Gb n, support for two M.2, NVMe, or up to four uFF drives.
Designed for a wide range of configuration and deployment options, the HPE ProLiant BL460c Gen10 Server Blade provides the flexibility to optimize your core IT applications with right-sized storage for the right workload for a lower TCO. All of this may be managed by HPE OneView, the converged management platform that accelerates IT operations, business delivery and boosts overall performance.
The HPE BL460c Gen10 supports up to two Intel® Xeon® Scalable 1st or 2nd Gen processors, delivering high performance and scalability for demanding workloads. The server supports a maximum memory capacity of 512GB per socket with 64GB DIMMs, totaling up to 1TB in a dual-socket configuration, with future support for larger DIMMs as they are qualified. Additionally, the server offers 16 DIMM slots in a two-processor setup, ensuring flexibility for memory-intensive applications. Its design emphasizes reliability and compatibility for modern data center environments.
For processors with a TDP of 135W or greater, the c7000 enclosure requires 10 fans to ensure optimal cooling and performance.

HPE memory from previous generation servers is not supported with this server. HPE SmartMemory is required to realize the memory performance improvements and enhanced functionality listed in this document for Gen10. LRDIMM and RDIMM are distinct memory technologies and cannot be mixed within a server. with the use of the gen 2 intel processors, the hpe bl 460c gen 10 can support larger DIMMM capacities and higher speeds.
The HPE BL460c Gen10 Server Blade supports the HPE Smart Array P204i-b and HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 SW RAID (chipset SATA), which allow up to 2 SFF or 4 uFF hot-plug drive bays. The HPE Smart Array S100i SR Controller comes standard with the server's 10Gb/20Gb FLB CTO Blade configuration. If the P204i-b controller is not selected, a SATA cable is included to support SATA devices in the two internal drive bays. For RAID functionality with the S100i, the ‘HPE FIO Enable Smart Array S100i SR Setting’ (784308-B21) must be chosen.
NVMe DrivesThe HPE BL460c Gen10 Server Blade supports NVMe drives through the HPE Gen10 NVMe FIO Setting (873373-B21), which is available on CTO models only. This setting is required to enable SFF NVMe SSDs within the system but is incompatible with the HPE Smart Array P204i-b Controller.
M.2 Boot OptionsFor boot functionality, HPE recommends using the Dual M.2 Solid State Drive Enablement Kit (873870-B21) with compatible M.2 SSD media. This configuration provides high-performance storage options tailored for demanding workloads.

HPE FlexibleLOM provides the ability to customize server networking today and the ability to meet future needs without overhauling server hardware. Provides choice of bandwidth and fabric (Ethernet, FCoE, InfiniBand), supports WOL, and provides a shared iLO port for ease of use.
The server requires one (1) FlexibleLOM that is installed in the FlexibleLOM connectors. All FlexibleLOMs are dual port: One port is routed to interconnect module bay 1 and the other to bay 2.
FlexibleLOM: Provides basic, customizable external network connectivity, allowing the blade to communicate with the outside network through the enclosure’s interconnect bays. Each port is autosensing the speed, and can interoperate with 1Gb HPE BladeSystem c-Class interconnect components. Both ports will operate at the same speed.

The HPE server features two I/O expansion mezzanine slots: Expansion Slot 1 is a x16 PCIe 3.0 Type A slot that supports dual-port mezzanine cards, with one port routed to interconnect module bay 3 and the other to bay 4. Expansion Slot 2 is a x16 PCIe 3.0 Type B slot, compatible with both Type A and Type B mezzanine cards. This slot supports dual-port and quad-port mezzanine cards—dual-port cards route one port each to bays 5 and 6, while quad-port cards route to bays 5, 6, 7, and 8. Note that Expansion Slot 2 requires a second processor to be installed for activation.
