Module Specs

The SAS IOM consists of four major functional blocks:

• Fabric switch (SAS expander subsystem)
• SAS I/O controller (IOC)
• Fabric management processor
• IOM common circuits
• 12Gb/s supported (backwards compatible to 6Gb/s and 3Gb/s)
• Eight x4 internal SAS connections to each of the chassis bays for connection to either compute sleds or storage sleds
• Management processor for SAS topology
• IOM common circuits for interface to chassis Management Module

The IOM facilitates SAS Storage subsystem, drive assignments, reporting health status and event logs for the associated SAS devices. You can manage SAS fabric by using the OpenManage Enterprise-Modular user interface to view inventory, storage event logs and manage drive or enclosure assignments.
