This is one of the supported blade servers, each Modular Enclosure is a separate CTO you must configure.
Effectively meet dynamic business needs with the PowerEdge M640. This modular blade server is designed to scale out and enable increased performance – all inside a PowerEdge VRTX chassis. Get up to 16 2nd generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processor dual-socket compute nodes in a single chassis. The M640 is an outstanding match for data center workloads that benefit from high density and power efficiency, and for multi-server and clustered architectures.
The M640 server supports today’s dynamic business needs by enabling increased scale-out performance in a Dell EMC blade server chassis. Get up to 16 Intel Xeon Scalable dual-socket compute nodes in a single chassis. The M640 is an ideal solution for customers with High Performance Computing (HPC), Anything-as-a-Service (XaaS), and private cloud applications. In data center settings that need highly-scalable, multi-server, or clustering, the density optimized M640 is an efficient solution for those designs and their various workloads.
The OpenManage portfolio delivers peak efficiency for PowerEdge servers through intelligent, automated management of routine tasks. Combined with the unique iDRAC agent-free management capabilities, the M640 is managed easily and effectively, freeing up time for business priorities.
Every PowerEdge server is made with a cyber-resilient architecture, infusing security into all parts of a server’s life cycle. The M640 uses these new security features so you can reliably and securely deliver the right data to where your customers are, no matter where they are. Dell EMC considers each part of server security, from design to end of life, to ensure trust and deliver worry-free, secure systems.
Take the next step to modernize your data center with this modular compute platform. The PowerEdge M640 is a modular blade server built on a scalable business architecture that offers you choice and flexibility to meet performance demands easily.

Storage Controllers The Storage Controller PCIe slot is located under the Drive cage near the front of the system. This slot only takes Blade Network Daughter Cards, and Mezzanine PERCs.
Boot Optimized Storage Subsystem (BOSS) Two CPUs are required for the BOSS card to function.
The BOSS and IDSDM can't be installed together.
HWRAID 2 x M.2 SSDs 120GB, 240 GB with 6 Gbps. BOSS card has x8 connector using PCIe gen 2.0 x2 lanes, available only in the low-profile and half-height form factor.
IDSDM, Internal USB, vFLash The IDSDM takes the same slot as the BOSS card and can't be installed together.
The vFlash slot is under the bNDC and only holds 1 Micro SD.
On the other side of the system board is a embedded USB slot for 1 internal USB.
Your system supports two mezzanine cards:
