The Dell PowerEdge R250, powered by Intel® Xeon® E-2300 processors, delivers powerful compute for common business applications and streamlines productivity. It supports 3200 MT/s DDR4 speeds and 32 GB DIMMs, up to 128 GB for memory intensive workloads. In addition, to address substantial throughput improvements, the PowerEdge R250 supports PCIe Gen 4 and offers enhanced thermal efficiency to support increasing power and thermal requirements. This makes the PowerEdge R250 an rack ideal server for business critical workloads, cloud infrastructure, and point of sale transactions in a 1U form factor, for small to midsized businesses, inside and outside of the data center.
The Dell PowerEdge R250 affordably addresses common business workloads while delivering compute with an entry-level 1U rack server.
The Dell PowerEdge R250 offers streamlined productivity, high-speed memory and capacity, powerful compute to address common business applications. Ideal for:

The Dell OpenManage systems management portfolio tames the complexity of managing and securing IT infrastructure. Using Dell Technologies’ intuitive end-to-end tools, IT can deliver a secure, integrated experience by reducing process and information silos in order to focus on growing the business. The Dell OpenManage portfolio is the key to your innovation engine, unlocking the tools and automation that help you scale, manage, and protect your technology environment.
The Dell PowerEdge R250 server is designed with a cyber-resilient architecture, integrating security deeply into every phase in the lifecycle, from design to retirement.
| DIMM type | Rank | Capacity | DIMM rated voltage and speed | DIMMs per Channel (DPC) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UDIMM | 1R | 8GB / 16GB | DDR4 (1.2 V), 3200 MT/s | 3200 MT/s |
| 2R | 32GB | DDR4 (1.2 V), 3200 MT/s | 3200 MT/s |
The Boot Optimized Sub System is the perfect way to load the OS on this server. Otherwise, you will have to allocate 1 of the 4 drives. This is not ideal when the storage in the system is so limited and the mixing of drive types is not supported. The BOSS module takes up 1 PCIe slot on the butterfly riser leaving you with 1 more PCIe slot to us for networking.
The Internal Dual SD module is great for loading the hypervisor OS for virtualization. This IDSDM uses the same slot as the internal USB. These can't be installed together. This IDSDM takes up to 2 MicroSD Cards.
The Internal USB is usually embedded on the system board or comes with the IDSDM Module. This R250 Rack Server has a Module dedicated to the internal USB Drive. This usb drive can handle any OS you need to load. View the Manual for more information on the internal USB.
