The HPE MSA P2000 G3 family delivers affordable, entry-level storage arrays tailored for small to medium-sized businesses, departmental deployments, or remote offices with limited budgets and IT resources. Available in 2U chassis configurations supporting either 12 large form factor (LFF) 3.5-inch or 24 small form factor (SFF) 2.5-inch drive bays, these arrays offer flexible host connectivity through five controller options: dual-port 8 GB Fibre Channel, a unique dual-protocol Combo controller (two 8 GB FC + two 1 GbE iSCSI ports), 6 GB SAS with four ports, dual-port 10 GbE iSCSI, and the latest quad-port 1 Gb iSCSI model. All models feature 6 GB SAS backend connectivity to drives and expansion enclosures, hot-plug redundancy for controllers, fans, power supplies, and I/O modules, and support for mixed enterprise SAS, SAS Midline, and SATA Midline drives (though SSDs are not supported). Designed for simplicity, the arrays emphasize easy deployment, strong security, low management overhead, and rapid ROI through efficient consolidation.
Built-in data protection comes standard across all G3 models, including 64 snapshots and Volume Copy (cloning), with optional upgrades to 512 snapshots and Remote Snap replication available on FC, FC/iSCSI Combo, and iSCSI controllers. The modular design allows starting with a single-controller configuration for minimal initial cost and upgrading to dual controllers or adding drive enclosures as capacity needs grow—scaling up to 57.6 TB SAS (or higher with Midline/SATA drives) in LFF setups and up to 178 TB SAS in SFF configurations with maximum expansions.
