The kit includes two small sensors, or ears, that are attached to the side of the server chassis. These sensors emit an ultrasonic signal that is picked up by HPE's Intelligent Series Rack Infrastructure (ISR) management module, which is installed in the rack. The ISR module then uses this signal to determine the precise location of the server within the rack and provide this information to HPE's management software.
This location information can be used for a variety of purposes, such as asset tracking, capacity planning, and troubleshooting.
