Powered by up to two 6th Generation Intel Xeon 6 processors (up to 144 cores each) and 32 DDR5 DIMM slots supporting up to 8 TB of memory, this enterprise AI server delivers high-performance computing for data centers, AI inferencing, and GPU acceleration at scale.

Designed as a dedicated GPU server, the DL380a Gen12 supports up to 10 double-wide or 16 single-wide GPUs via PCIe Gen5 switch boards and captive risers, with NVIDIA NVLink bridging for multi-GPU AI workloads. It features 2x OCP 3.0 network slots, up to 6 PCIe Gen5 x16 expansion slots, up to 8 hot-plug power supplies, and HPE iLO 7 remote server management.

There is no configuration where the DLC is mandatory.

MR vs SR — What's the Difference?

The MR (MegaRAID) and SR (Smart Array) controller families use different management tools and cannot be installed together in the same server. With a tri-mode U.3 backplane, both series support SAS, SATA, and NVMe drives, allowing mixed drive types in one system. This server has no built-in hardware RAID, so a storage controller is required for any RAID functionality — direct-attached SATA drives without one run in AHCI mode only.

Intel® VROC (Virtual RAID on CPU) is a software-based RAID solution for direct-attached NVMe SSDs, run through the CPU instead of a hardware storage controller.
