Dell PowerEdge XE9780

The Dell PowerEdge XE9780 is a 10U dual-socket, air-cooled AI server built around an eight-way NVIDIA HGX baseboard for generative AI training, large language models and HPC. It takes eight NVIDIA HGX B300 288GB or B200 180GB SXM6 GPUs fully linked by NVLink, and the B300 build adds eight embedded ConnectX-8 OSFP ports. Two Intel Xeon 6 processors with up to 86 cores each drive up to 4TB of DDR5 at up to 6400 MT/s. Fully configurable.

It is built around an eight-way NVIDIA HGX baseboard: eight B300 288GB 1100W or eight B200 180GB 1000W SXM6 GPUs, fully interconnected with NVLink. The B300 version adds eight embedded ConnectX-8 OSFP ports for back-end networking.

Two Intel Xeon 6 processors (6th Gen Xeon Scalable) with up to 86 cores each, and 32 DDR5 RDIMM slots (16 per processor) for up to 4TB at up to 6400 MT/s with one DIMM per channel, or 5200 MT/s with two. NVIDIA guidance calls for more than 1TB of memory with B200 GPUs and more than 2TB with B300.

Up to sixteen E3.S Gen5 NVMe SSDs or ten 2.5-inch U.2 Gen5 NVMe SSDs, all direct attached, plus BOSS-N1 with two M.2 SSDs for boot. The front holds up to twelve PCIe Gen5 x16 FHHL slots with B200 GPUs or four with B300, and one OCP 3.0 NIC. Please specify your capacity needs when you submit your quote configuration.

It is fully air cooled, with fifteen hot-swap GPU fans in a rear fan sled and five cold-swap CPU fans on the mid tray. Twelve 3200W Titanium power supplies run in 6+6 full redundancy, and grid A/B redundancy can be set in iDRAC.

The 10U XE9780 moves to NVIDIA HGX B300 or B200 SXM6 GPUs, Intel Xeon 6 with up to 86 cores, DDR5-6400, Gen5 NVMe-only storage, twelve 3200W PSUs and iDRAC10. The 6U Gen 16 XE9680 uses H100, H200, H20, AMD MI300X or Intel Gaudi 3 accelerators on 4th/5th Gen Xeon, with SAS/SATA drive options and iDRAC9.
