Drive Options
The HPE DL580 (G8) has two Drive Bays. Standard is 5 SFF Drive installed in the lower Bay. The system comes with the option to upgrade to 10 SFF Drives when the HP ProLiant DL580 5 Small Form Factor Drive Backplane Cage Kit (739405-B21) is installed. This upgrade will populate the upper drive bay with 5 additional drives.
Memory Options | (96) DDR3 DIMMs
The HPE DL580 (G8) has a very unique DIMM setup for this server to pack so many DIMMS into a such a tight fit. The way HPE pulls this off is with the (8) DIMM cartridges These cartridges hold (12) dimms each for the total dimms being 96 DDR3 DIMMs.
FlexibleLOM Networking Options
HPE ProLiant Gen8 servers offer a new flexible network technology - FlexibleLOMs, which offers customers a choice of 1Gb, 10Gb, or 10Gb base-T Ethernet or converged networking in their embedded adapter. Only one FlexibleLOM can be added to the server. These options are upgradeable and can be changed from the original configuration after the server is shipped.
This card is tucked away under the SPI card. You must remove the SPI to view the Flexlom Adapter. For 10Gb adapters, a minimum of two Gigabytes (2 GB) of server memory is required per each adapter.
