The Internal Dual SD Module with vFlash houses 2 microSD cards for hypervisor OS use — not a full OS install — alongside a separate vFlash slot for iDRAC management on the reverse side.

The Boot Optimized Storage Subsystem (BOSS) card holds 2 M.2 SSDs and handles OS loading on the rack server — skipping BOSS means dedicating one of the 4 available drives to boot duty instead.
