


The 25-drive DPE is two rack units (U), 8.9 cm (3.5 in.) high, 79.2 cm (31.2 in.) deep, and includes slots for twenty-five 2.5-in. drives.
The Unity 380/F has a different chassis than the rest of the Unity XT Series.
Each DPE contains two SP assemblies. The SP assembly is the intelligent component providing the compute capability of the DPE. Acting as the control center, each SP assembly includes status LEDs.
Please Note: The Dell EMC Unity hybrid models are the only ones to support FAST and FAST VP technology which helps with tiered storage and accessibility to high-frequency data.
Each SP has two slots that can support 5 different options.
Twenty-four, 288-pin DIMM sockets support up to 12 DDR4 DIMMs, capable of up to 96 GB, 192 GB, or 384 GB of memory, depending on the model.
Each SP assembly has two slots for M.2 SSD on a M.2 SSD adaptor located between DIMM slots 5/17 and 6/18. One M.2 SSD is used for general system operations, while the other M.2 SSD is used for vaulting.
Six redundant fan modules connect to the motherboard within the SP assembly to provide continuous airflow through the front drives and through the rear of the SP assembly to keep the components at optimal operating temperatures.
The SP assembly includes a Lithium-ion (Li-ion) internal battery that powers the associated SP assembly during a power event.
Power Supply – 380/F | 480/F
There are two power supply modules in a Disk Processor Enclosure (DPE), one per Storage Processor. A single power supply is capable of powering the entire DPE. Power supplies can be replaced without having to remove the Storage Processor or shutdown the system. Power supplies are offered for AC power and in Dell Unity OE version 5.2, a NEBS compliant DC variant power supply was introduced for Dell Unity XT 380/F and 480/F models. DC power supplies are not available for the 680/F and 880/F. For Unity XT 380 and 480 DC powered systems, 600GB and 1.8TB 10k SAS NEBS certified as well as 800GB 3WPD SSD NEBS certified drives are available. For Unity XT 380F and 480F DC powered systems, 1.92TB and 3.84TB 1WPD SSD NEBS drives are available.
